Event
The Fireball Classic includes two running events on Neyland Drive in Knoxville:
- 5K run
- Kid's Mile (open to ages 12 and under)
The 5K starts in the eastbound lane in front of the G-10 parking lot, heads out and returns in the westbound lane, and finishes near Neyland Stadium. The Kid's Mile is an out-and-back on Neyland Drive.
Logistics and rules
The event uses tiered registration fees and does not allow refunds or bib transfers. Packet pickup is available early at The Long Run (2452 Sutherland Avenue) and on race day at the pavilion between the G-10 Parking Garage and the Tickle Engineering Building. Adult shirts are gender-specific tanks; children receive a shirt and a finisher's medal. Shirt orders are placed in early June; registrants should sign up before that date to secure sizes.
Awards are given to top finishers overall, top Masters, Grandmasters, Senior Grandmasters, and top 3 in each age group, plus Overall Clydesdale and Overall Athena. Awards will not be mailed and must be picked up at The Long Run. All kids who finish the Mile receive a finisher's medal.
The race is part of the Knoxville Track Club Grand Prix and team competition. Grand Prix points require KTC membership and at least three KTC volunteer events. Roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and dogs are not allowed on the course. The 5K course closes after 1 hour and 15 minutes. Post-race refreshments will be provided in the event tent. Additional information is available from the Knoxville Track Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
