The course uses the Ironton Rail Trail, which follows the route of the former Ironton Railroad. The rail-trail network includes a 5-mile loop around Coplay and Hokendauqua on the Lehigh River plus a 4-mile spur west toward Ironton, and connects multiple parks and historical sites in east-central Lehigh County.
Event features include a short-sleeve T-shirt for pre-registrants and for post-registrants while supplies last; a clock and results board at the finish; refreshments; instant results with times posted online; and one free raffle ticket with additional tickets available for purchase. The 5k is professionally timed. The course is described as having no traffic. The event is held rain or shine; there are no refunds and no mailed shirts or awards.
Awards for the 5k are given to the top male and female overall and to the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 0-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-67, 68-74, and 75+.
