Fellowship of the Idiots 19.7 Mile Run

The Fellowship of the Idiots is a non timed road run covering 19.7 miles from the Stanly County Family YMCA up to Morrow Mountain and back. The event in 2027 marks the 24th running and the field is capped at 600 runners. Registration is offered in advance for the listed entry categories and the base registration fee is $19.70. Donations and apparel purchases are encouraged to help cover race expenses such as public safety support, medical services, permits, bibs, and pavilion rental.

The event uses a rolling start format and provides pace guidance for planning. Aid stations are placed at approximately miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 9.8, 12, 14, 16, and 18, with Gatorade and Gu at about mile 4.2 and at the top of Morrow Mountain. Bathrooms and showers are available at the YMCA on race day; participants are asked to bring their own towel.

First time finishers of the full 19.7 miles receive the Fellowship of the Idiot ringer shirt and official recognition as an Idiot, but the shirt is awarded only to those who complete the entire course. Shorter course options are available for partial distances and do not qualify for the Idiot shirt.
