Course and logistics
The course mixes paved, gravel, double-track and single-track trail surfaces and passes through Chateau Elan vineyards, a pond area with a small wooden bridge, gravel fire roads, a golf cart path, and areas near a horse arena. The 5.5 mile option is two laps of the loop; the 3.0 mile option is a single lap. At a water station the 5.5 mile runners continue for a second lap while 3.0 mile runners veer to the finish.
Entry fees vary by date: 5.5 miles - $45 through October 31, $50 late (Nov 1–13), $55 race day; 3.0 miles - $40 through October 31, $45 late (Nov 1–13), $50 race day. Packet pickup is the morning of the race from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Participants may receive a tri-blend shirt (men's and women's sizes) while supplies last; shirts are not guaranteed for late or race-day registration. Chateau Elan will offer a free signature wine tasting at the finish area. Medals are awarded to top finishers by overall, masters, and age-group categories; recipients must be present to receive medals. Walkers may participate but should be able to complete the course at a 16 minute per mile pace or faster to receive an official time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
