Course, rules and services
The course combines rocks, roots, wide trails, single track, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills and meadows. Conditions can include snow, mud, or sun. The 50 km event has specific rules including a hard cutoff, a requirement to carry a headlamp for later sections, restrictions on finishing the final loop if not on schedule, allowance of pacers on the last loop, and poles are permitted.
There are three aid stations supplying water, Tailwind, and snacks. First aid is provided by Stat Med Canada. Porta potties are available at the start/finish area. Parking is available at Batawa Ski Hill with overflow at the Batawa Community Centre; participants are asked not to block residential driveways. No refunds are offered; transfers between individuals are allowed until November 7, 2025, at the participants' expense. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each distance; children in the Big Bum run receive participant ribbons.
