Fat Ass Trail Run
The Fat Ass Trail Run takes place on the trail network of Batawa Ski Hill in Quinte West, Ontario. The course features a variety of terrain, including rocks, roots, wide trails, single tracks, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills, and meadows. Depending on the weather, participants may encounter mud, snow, or direct sun.
A wide range of distances is available to accommodate different preferences:
- 50 km (consisting of five loops on the north circuit)
- Bad Ass 6 Hour (timed event on a 7.5 km loop)
- 24.5 km
- 16.5 km
- 10 km
- 7.5 km
- 5 km
- Big Bum Kids' 1 km (specifically for children)
This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own flasks, cups, or hydration bladders to refill at the three available aid stations. These stations are stocked with water and various snacks. For the 50 km distance, specific regulations apply: poles are permitted, pacers are allowed on the final loop, and runners must carry a headlamp if they are on the course after 3:00 p.m.
Ample parking is provided at the Batawa Ski Hill and the Batawa Community Centre. In maintaining a traditional trail race spirit, awards are reserved for the top three male and female finishers in each category, while all participants in the children's run receive ribbons.
