Dark & Dirty
Dark & Dirty is a night trail running event held at the Batawa Ski Hill in Quinte West, Ontario. The race takes place on the local trail network after sunset to avoid July daytime temperatures. The terrain features natural trail elements including rocks, roots, stumps, and hills.
Participants can choose between two available distances:
- 7 km
- 14 km
The course is well-marked, and participants are manually timed. Due to the nighttime conditions, runners are required to carry a headlamp, flashlight, or waist lamp. For safety reasons, the use of headphones is not permitted during the race.
This is a cup-less event, meaning runners must bring their own water bottles or hydration systems. An aid station providing water, Tailwind, and snacks is positioned at the halfway point specifically for those completing the 14 km distance.
Facilities at the site include a portable toilet located at the start and finish line. Race kit pickup, including bibs, occurs on-site prior to the start. All finishers receive a medal, and participants who register before the June 21st deadline receive a race t-shirt. In addition to performance awards for the first-place male and female in each distance, draw prizes from local businesses are distributed to participants.
