11th Annual Fast & Furriest 5K/1M - April 19, 2026
The event is a live 5K run and a 1 mile walk held at Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville, MD, with a virtual option available from April 17 to April 20, 2026. The event benefits Operation Paws for Homes, an all-breed 501c3 dog rescue, and this year emphasizes funding treatment for dogs diagnosed with heartworm disease.

The course is contained within park grounds and is mostly paved with a few light gravel crossing areas. The event site, check-in area and vendor area are on grass and may be wet in the morning. Runners are scheduled before walkers to avoid overlap.
Dogs on course are allowed when leashed; organizers request 4 to 6 foot leashes and no retractable leashes. Participants who run with dogs are identified separately for recognition and are eligible for awards. Category selections may be changed up until the start of the race.
Shirts are available by reservation only; the deadline to reserve a shirt is March 21, 2026. Children aged 0 to 10 register free and do not have a standard shirt option; special shirt arrangements for children must be made before April 4. Awards for on-site runners include overall male and female, top male and female running with dogs, and age group placements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
