Farm Park Challenge
The Farm Park Challenge is a trail event at Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood, Maryland. It offers multiple competition formats that use a 5-mile out-and-back lap on natural surface trails in Montgomery County.
Distances and formats include:
- Marathon: five 5-mile loops plus a 1.2 mile segment
- 25K: three 5-mile loops plus a 0.25 mile segment
- 10 hour challenge: ten 5-mile segments
- 6 hour challenge: six 5-mile segments
- 3 hour challenge: three 5-mile segments
Participants in the timed challenges start each segment at the top of the hour; a runner who completes a 5-mile lap in under 60 minutes may rest until the next start. The course surface includes grassy sections, single track, some exposed rocks and roots, and a couple of minor creek crossings. There are rolling hills with no major climbs. The course route may change if trail conditions warrant or if park management requires adjustments.
An aid station on course provides water, sports drink, salty and sugary snacks, and additional options including vegan and vegetarian choices. Registration is time-limited; registration closes April 30, 2026, and registration by April 18, 2026 at 11:59 pm ET is required to be guaranteed a shirt.
