Family Tough Guy & Gal Challenge - Rotorua
The Hobbs Global Family Tough Guy and Gal Challenge is scheduled for Saturday 22nd August 2026 at Lakes Ranch, 79 Lake Rotokawau Road, Owhata, Rotorua. The venue offers hot showers, a hot swimming pool, backpacker style accommodation, hot food and coffee for sale, and parking. Registration is held in the big barn at the venue.
Teams are family based and entered as either two or three person teams. A two person team must include one adult aged 18 or older plus one child aged 5 to 17. A three person team may include one or two adults aged 18 or older plus one or two children aged 5 to 17. There is a maximum ratio of one adult to two children per team.
The course is approximately 3km in length; venue terrain and obstacles mean some courses may be shorter in distance but are considered equivalent in time to a flat 3km cross country course. Obstacles include mud pits, climbing walls and crawling tunnels, and the terrain can include farmland and natural bushland.
Every competitor receives a finishers medal and a downloadable certificate. There are no merit prizes; spot prizes are drawn at prize giving and must be collected in person. No dogs are permitted at the venue. Covered shoes are compulsory and certain studs are not permitted. Personalised race numbers are available if the team is entered three weeks prior to the event.
