Family Tough Guy & Gal Challenge - Rotorua
The Family Tough Guy and Gal Challenge at Lakes Ranch in Rotorua is a family team obstacle event held on Saturday 21 August 2027. The course is approximately 3 km in time-equivalent distance and features mixed terrain that may include farmland and natural bushland.
Teams are family combinations with specific age rules: 2-person teams require one adult (18+) and one child (5–17); 3-, 4- and 5-person options allow various mixes of adults and children with a maximum ratio of one adult to three children. Teams of four or five receive three bibs and multiple medals depending on team size. Personalised team names on race bibs are available if entries are completed by 6 August.
The course includes mud pits, climbing walls, crawling tunnels and other obstacles designed for adults and children to complete together. Facilities at the venue include registration in a large barn, hot showers, a large hot swimming pool, parking, first aid, and hot food and drinks for purchase; cash is recommended. Every finisher receives a medal and a downloadable certificate. Spot prizes are drawn at prize-giving and winners must be present to collect them.
Entries open 1 November 2026 with tiered early, standard and event-day team fees. Withdrawal and transfer rules, and a no-dog policy, apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
