The 5K & Family Health Day for Maternal Health Awareness is a charity event held at Lake Mayer Park in Savannah. This event aims to raise funds and awareness for maternal health, with all proceeds benefiting the Savannah Care Center. The course begins and ends near the park pavilion. After starting, participants turn left near the parking lot to complete two laps around Lake Mayer Park before finishing back at the pavilion. The race utilizes professional timing services. Participants who register by late April are guaranteed a race shirt of their preferred size. Finisher medals are also provided for those who register by the designated deadline. Awards are presented across multiple age categories, including under 18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-64, and 65 plus.
Following the race, a free Family Health Day is open to all community members, regardless of whether they participated in the run. This portion of the event includes free health screenings, wellness resources, and a community baby shower designed to support new and expecting mothers with essential gifts and resources. Strollers are permitted on the course but must start at the back of the line for safety. Free parking is available for all attendees, with an optional VIP parking area located near the start line.
