Falmouth Triathlon - The Seal

Falmouth Triathlon is staged at Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, TR11 4PA. The beach is blue flag rated and is described as having calm waters. The setting includes golden sand, turquoise water and panoramic views towards the Lizard Peninsula and Pendennis Castle.

The race features an Australian exit after the first swim loop. The bike and run routes follow the coast around Pendennis Point, with a closed road section along Cliff Rd where spectators commonly gather. Seals have been reported offshore along the courses.

Event distances are offered in two formats:

  • Little Seal (Super Sprint): 400 m swim, 9.7 km bike, 2.4 km run
  • Big Seal (Sprint): 750 m swim, 18 km bike, 4.8 km run

Bike laps: Big Seal uses four loops, Little Seal uses two loops. Wetsuits are mandatory; shortie or full body suits are permitted. All competitors receive a medal on completion.

The event forms part of the Cornish Tri Series. Series scoring uses a points system with a maximum of 100 points noted for age group winners. Series qualification requires completion of multiple events and a volunteering component as specified by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
