About the race
The Fallen Soldiers Memorial event offers three distances run along the Potomac River and the C&O Canal in Great Falls, Maryland. Routes use the canal towpath, a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change, laid out as out-and-back courses.

The event includes chip timing, a finisher’s medal, and a technical (Drifit) event shirt. Water and aid are provided: the half marathon has seven water stations at approximately miles 1.55, 2.8, 5.5, 6.55, 7.6, 10.3 and 11.55; the 10k has four stations at approximately miles 1.55, 2.8, 3.4 and 4.65; the 5k has one station at approximately mile 1.55. Gatorade is available at some stations. Course maps are available through the event materials for Great Falls, MD.
Registration notes in the event materials state that race entry does not include the park entrance fee and that T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before May 19. The half marathon has a completion time limit of 3 hours 15 minutes. Packet pickup is available at the event and there is no on-site race registration.
Awards include top three men and women overall plus first and second place in standard age categories (19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+); overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
