Fall Running Series - Peninsula, OH
The Fall Running Series is a set of five weekly themed trail races held on Tuesday evenings in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The series takes place on five separate dates in late September and October and each event is hosted at a different park location in Peninsula, Ohio.
Each race covers between 3 to 5 miles on trail terrain. A surprise twist is revealed shortly before each race begins. Events run regardless of weather. Participants who expect to walk or run at a moderate pace are advised to bring a flashlight or headlamp. Dogs are allowed for the fifth event at Camp Butler under special permission.
Series participants receive event swag including Feetures socks, a Nathan strobe light, and a finisher medal among other items; individual race participants choose from a grab bag assortment. Donations from the series benefit the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Scoring is automatic for series participants. The first four races of the series count toward series points; the fifth race is timed but not scored for series points. Overall scoring uses a base of 50 points for first place descending by place. Age group scoring uses a base of 10 points for first place descending by place. Top three overall finishers by gender and top three in each age group are recognized. Age groups are in five year increments from 14 & Under through 70 & Over.
