Fall Rogaine - Reno
Fall Rogaine is a five-hour navigation event held on desert trails at the Reno Sports Complex in Reno, Nevada. The course covers a distance of 16 miles and includes nonstandard navigation elements with a few unique checkpoints that require alternative problem solving.
The event takes place on trails typical of late summer conditions; participants should plan for warm weather and provide their own hydration and nutrition for the duration of activity. Organizers note that gaiters and trekking poles may be useful. Pace count cones will be available and there is a brief introduction to navigation before the event.
Facilities at the venue include restrooms and on-site water. Snacks will be available. Registration for the event is free. Volunteers are encouraged, and the organizer is seeking medics willing to offer their time for donations.
The course is presented as a trekking navigation format rather than a standard point-to-point race, emphasizing map reading and route choice over a multi-hour loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
