Fall Foliage Adventure Race
The Fall Foliage Adventure Race takes place in Jamestown, VA on October 10, 2026, and offers two timed formats that combine paddling, biking and trekking. Races use orienteering-style navigation: teams or solo competitors receive maps with checkpoints and choose routes to find as many checkpoints as possible within the time limit.
Key course distance estimates:
- 15-hour race: Paddle 12+ miles; Trek 18+ miles; Bike 25+ miles
- 5-hour race: Paddle 6+ miles; Trek 7+ miles; Bike 9+ miles
Entry categories include solo, 2-, 3- and 4-person teams, and a family division. Age minimums are listed separately for each race. The event is USARA sanctioned and the 15-hour race scores points toward the Adventure Race World Series.
Registration items provided include a kayak or canoe with paddle and PFD, a race shirt (guaranteed if registered before September 1), topographic race maps, in-race equipment transport, race photos, post-race food and custom awards. Mandatory participant gear includes a bike and certified helmet, rear red blinking bike light, watch, backpack with hydration, charged cellphone, whistle, map case, compass and first aid kit. Additional mandatory items are required for the 15-hour race, such as front bike light, headlamp with spare batteries, water purification and safety glowsticks.
Spectators may watch but may not assist participants. The event operates rain or shine. Race proceeds benefit Bike Walk Williamsburg. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
