Fall Foliage Adventure Race : basic facts
The Fall Foliage Adventure Race takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 2205 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185. The event offers two main race formats: 5-hour and 24-hour, each available for solo competitors and for teams. Entry fees listed are $90 for the 5-hour solo and team events (team youth rate $30 for ages 3-13), and $285 for the 24-hour solo and team events (team youth rate $30 for ages 10-13). Age eligibility ranges are shown per event: 5-hour solo open to ages 14-99, 5-hour team open to ages 5-99, 24-hour solo open to ages 15-99, and 24-hour team open to ages 10-99.
Course, format and rules
The race format combines paddling, biking and trekking with navigation using a map and compass. Participants receive a map with marked checkpoints and choose their own routes; scoring is based on checkpoints found, with fastest time used as a tie-breaker. The 5-hour course includes biking, canoe or kayak paddling and trekking, with biking on a mix of gravel and paved surfaces and routes described as beginner-friendly. The 24-hour course covers multiple parks and conservancies, continues through night and morning hours, and includes paddling, trekking and biking; the region is described as having no extreme elevation or climbs.
