Event overview
The Fall Foliage Adventure Race is an adventure-racing event in and around Jamestown, Virginia, held on October 10, 2026. The event offers a 24-hour race and a 5-hour race that combine paddling, biking, and trekking. Both races are USARA-sanctioned; the 24-hour race also scores points in the Adventure Race World Series. Race proceeds benefit Bike Walk Williamsburg.
Teams may compete as soloists or in 2-, 3- or 4-person teams. A Family Division is available. Age minimums are listed for each race: the 5-hour race allows racers age 5 and up, and the 24-hour race allows racers age 10 and up. The 5-hour course includes beginner-friendly biking on a mix of gravel and paved surfaces.

- 5-hour race: Paddle 6+ miles, Trek 7+ miles, Bike 9+ miles
- 24-hour race: Paddle 15+ miles, Trek 25+ miles, Bike 60+ miles
Distance estimates reflect clearing the full course and visiting every checkpoint.
Participation, gear and rules
Participants must bring a mountain bike and a certified bike helmet plus essential safety and navigation gear (watch, backpack, compass, map case, whistle, sealed cellphone, rear red-blinking bike light, hydration, compact first-aid kit). The organizer provides boats, paddles, lifejackets, race maps, e-punch, and bibs. Additional mandatory items are required for the 24-hour race (front bike light, headlamp with spare batteries, paddle bag, water purification, base layer, waterproof jacket, safety glowsticks, space blanket).
Navigation devices used to aid route choice are prohibited and may cause disqualification. Teams must remain within 100 feet of each other. The event follows a Leave No Trace ethic; violations can result in disqualification. The event is held rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
