Fall Creek Falls Triathlons
The event weekend is held at Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee and includes Half Iron, Olympic and Calfkiller Sprint triathlon distances, plus additional road races the following day.
Distances include:
- Half Iron Distance Triathlon: Swim 1.2 miles, Bike 56 miles, Run 13.1 miles
- Olympic Distance Triathlon: Swim 0.93 miles, Bike 24.8 miles, Run 6.2 miles
- Calfkiller Sprint Triathlon: Swim 500 meters, Bike 22 kilometers, Run 5 kilometers
The Olympic swim takes place in a lake with no current and warm water; the wetsuit decision is made on race morning. The Olympic bike course is described as flat to rolling. The Olympic run follows a shaded bike trail through park woods with rolling hills. Course maps are provided by the organizer.
Aid and logistics: the Half Iron bike course has Deer Park 700 ml water bottles at mile 24 and 39 turnarounds; there is no bike aid on the Olympic or Sprint courses. Run aid stations offer water and Gatorade with two tables at each station. The Half Iron passes aid stations 12 times, the Olympic 5 times, and the Sprint 2 times. Packet pickup is scheduled Friday afternoon at the tent on the east ball field and Saturday morning at the race site.
Sanctioning and rules: the races are sanctioned by USA Triathlon and require either a one day USAT license or an annual membership. The organizer maintains a no refund policy; event insurance is available during registration. Decisions about course changes or cancellations are made with local officials based on safety.
