Falcon 5K Turkey Trot - Avon, CT
The Falcon 5K Turkey Trot is a community road race held at Thompson Brook School in Avon, Connecticut. The event features a certified 5K course that starts and finishes at the school and follows local roads through the surrounding neighborhood. The event is rain or shine and held at participants' own risk; there are no refunds.
Registration fees vary by date, with higher fees for late and day-of registration. Online registration closes on November 24. Pre-race packet pick-up is available at New Balance Avon on specified dates, and limited packet pick-up is available on race day. Raffle prizes are drawn only for those who attend pre-race packet pick-up; unclaimed raffle items are donated.
Each registered runner who crosses the finish line receives a medal. Overall awards for the top three male and female finishers are paid as Visa gift cards: first place $250, second place $150, third place $100. Top male and female in multiple age divisions receive a souvenir coin. Free beverages and fruit are offered at the finish. The event includes police escort at the race start, is family friendly, and welcomes strollers; pets are not allowed. Music includes a performance of the national anthem by members of the Avon High School Choir and a DJ.
Proceeds support the Avon High School Cross Country Team, scholarships for graduating seniors, the Avon High School Booster Club, and the Avon Volunteer Fire Department. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
