Eyam Fell Race

The Eyam Fell Race is an athletic event held in the historic village of Eyam. The race starts and finishes at the Eyam Sports Pavilion and traverses various terrains within the Peak District. The main event is a fell race that incorporates a steep climb from the village up to Sir William Hill, passing the Barrel Inn towards Abney Moor.

Runners on the course experience a variety of sections including:

  • 10 km main fell race for participants aged 17 and older.
  • 3 km junior race for participants aged 11 to 16.

The 10 km route involves a descent through Abney Moor, a switchback turn, and a climb through heather before returning to the village via a steep wooded section. The junior course features a steep ascent with steps, a level section, and a steep descent. Participants in the junior race are advised to wear footwear with good grip.

Post-race activities are held in the courtyard, featuring a barbecue and a bar. Prizes for the event are provided by local sponsors. The main race requires pre-registration, while the junior race allows for entry on the day of the event. Participants under the age of 18 entering the main race are expected to have prior experience with fell running over similar distances.
