Eyam Fell Race sponsored by The Barrel

Eyam Fell Race is a 10 km fell race that starts and finishes in the historic village of Eyam in the Peak District. The route climbs out of the village to Sir William Hill, passes the Barrel Inn at Bretton, crosses Abney Moor with views of the surrounding landscape, then returns via a steep wooded section into Eyam. The course includes steep climbs, a steep descent and a tight switchback.

The main race is for competitors aged 17 and over on the day; anyone under 18 should have prior fell running experience over similar distances. Entry for the main race is by preregistration only and places are strictly limited. The listed entry fee for the adult race is £8.00.

A junior event accompanies the main race. Distances:

  • 10 km fell race - adult course over Sir William Hill and Abney Moor
  • 3 km junior race - for ages 11 to 16, entry on the day, fee £2

The junior course includes a steep ascent with steps, a level section and a steep descent; shoes with good grip are advised. Both courses are marshalled. Prizes are supplied by event sponsors at The Barrel Inn at Bretton and there is provision for a barbecue and bar in the courtyard after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
