Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community 5 Miles : 3 May 2026

The event includes a full marathon and a Community 5 Mile race held in Exeter. Distances on offer:

The marathon course is described as flat and traffic-free, following the footpath and cycle track along the River Exe and Exeter Canal. The Community 5 Mile route runs along the Exeter Quayside, through Riverside Valley Park, and finishes at Haven Banks. The marathon course is officially measured and registered with England Athletics, so finish times can be used for London Marathon 'Good for Age' qualification.

Entry, age rules, facilities and support

Entry options include booking an individual place or securing a charity place; charity places require a minimum fundraising pledge of £300. Minimum ages follow UK Athletics guidance: 18 years for the marathon and 15 years for the Community 5 Mile. The marathon has a maximum permitted completion time of six hours and timed cut-off points on the route for runners who fall below the minimum expected pace.

Support and race-day services include water stations, energy drinks and medical assistance on the course. Finish facilities listed include toilets, a recovery area, medical station and bag store. All finishers receive a medal; marathon finishers also receive a t-shirt and trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. Results are published via Webscorer.
