Exeter Live Better Marathon & Community Five Mile
The Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community Five Mile are running events held in the city of Exeter. Both races utilize a flat, traffic-free course that follows the footpaths and cycle tracks along the River Exe and the Exeter Canal.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- Marathon: A full-distance race (26.2 miles) open to participants aged 18 and over. The course is officially measured and certified by England Athletics, making it a qualifying event for the London Marathon "Good for Age" entry system.
- Five Miles: A shorter distance event open to participants aged 15 and over. This route passes through the Exeter Quayside and the Riverside Valley Park, finishing at Haven Banks.
The marathon has a maximum permitted completion time of six hours, with specific timed cut-off points located along the route. Participants in both distances receive a finisher's medal, while marathon finishers also receive a t-shirt. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the races.
Facilities provided at the event include water stations, energy drinks, medical assistance, toilets, a bag store, and a recovery area. The course is navigated via marked paths, and participants have the option to enter through standard registration or by securing a charity fundraising place.
