Course and race information
The marathon route runs along traffic-free footpaths and the cycle track of the River Exe and Exeter Canal and is described as a flat course. The Community 5 Mile is part of The Quayside 5 Series and runs along the Exeter Quayside and through Riverside Valley Park, finishing at Haven Banks. The marathon course is officially measured, certified, and registered with England Athletics, so times may be used for London Marathon Good for Age qualification.
Minimum ages follow UK Athletics rules: 18 years for the marathon and 15 years for the Community 5 Mile. The marathon has a maximum completion time of six hours with timed cut-off points on the route. Support on course typically includes water stations, energy drinks, and medical assistance. Finishers receive a medal; marathon finishers also receive a finishers’ t-shirt, and trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. Facilities at the finish commonly include toilets, a recovery area, medical station, and bag store. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
