Event overview
The Exeter Live Better Marathon and the Community 5 Mile are organised by Exeter City Community Trust and take place in Exeter on 3 May 2026. The programme includes two distances:

- Community 5 Mile
Medals are provided to all finishers. The marathon also includes a finishers’ t-shirt. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers.
Course and support
The marathon is described as a traffic-free, flat route along the footpath and cycle track of the River Exe and Exeter Canal. The Community 5 Mile route runs along the Exeter Quayside, through Riverside Valley Park, and returns to Haven Banks for the finish. Course support includes water stations, energy drinks and medical assistance. Finish-area facilities listed include toilets, a water station, a recovery area, a medical station and a bag store. Results are shared via email and on Webscorer.
Entry, eligibility and certification
The marathon is open to runners aged 18 and over and has a maximum permitted completion time of six hours with timed cut-off points on the route. The Community 5 Mile welcomes runners aged 15 and over. The marathon course is officially measured and registered with England Athletics and can be used as a qualifying time for the London Marathon Good for Age system.
Two entry options are offered: booking an individual place or securing a charity place (minimum fundraising pledge of £300, excluding gift aid). Charity entrants receive a technical running top, a fundraising pack, online training materials and post-event hospitality. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
