Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community 5 Mile
Exeter City Community Trust stages the Exeter Live Better Marathon and the Community 5 Mile on 3 May 2026. The events run on traffic-free, largely flat paths beside the River Exe and the Exeter Canal and through the Exeter Quayside.
Distances
- Marathon, traffic-free flat route along the River Exe and Exeter Canal
- Community 5 Mile, via Exeter Quayside and Riverside Valley Park, finish at Haven Banks
The marathon is open to runners aged 18 and over and has a maximum permitted time of six hours with timed cut-off points on the route. The Community 5 Mile accepts runners aged 15 and over. Finishers receive medals; marathon finishers also receive a finishers' t-shirt. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers.
Course support and finish facilities include water stations, energy drinks, medical assistance, toilets, a recovery area and a bag store. The marathon course is officially measured and registered with England Athletics, so times can be used for official qualification purposes including Good for Age entry. The organiser offers charity places requiring a minimum fundraising pledge of £300 and provides Team Exeter City Community Trust runners with a technical running top, a fundraising pack, online training materials and post-event hospitality.
