York 5K May SuperSprint Race
The York 5K May SuperSprint Race takes place on Friday 8 May 2026 at the University of York Sport Village cycle circuit. The event is organised by Even Splits and is being held on a trial basis across March, April and May at the same venue.
The event distance is 5 km on a road course that is described as flat, run over five laps. The field is limited to 100 entries and the course is listed as suitable for wheelchairs. Timing is electronic and chip based; a race licence has been applied for. Results are sent by text as runners cross the finish line and kilometre splits are published the following day.
This SuperSprint race is restricted to male and open category runners with an expected finish time of 17 minutes or under, and to female runners with an expected finish time of 19 minutes or under. There is an Open 5K held on the same evening that is open to runners of all speeds. Entry on the day is not available. Entry fees are listed as £10 for affiliated runners and £12 for unaffiliated runners.
Race numbers include an embedded timing chip that can be used at both York and Leeds 5K events and are collected from registration on first attendance. Previously issued red 5K numbers from 2020 to 2025 may be reused if recorded on the entry form. Entrants are entitled to one free number replacement within a 12 month period; subsequent replacements cost £4. Facilities include water, distance markers and toilets but there are no changing rooms, no showers and no baggage storage. Entrants may defer their place once to the next race in the same calendar year if requested at least three days before race day. There are no refunds and race places cannot be transferred.
