Evansville Zombie 5K Run/Walk
The event is a themed 5K run and walk through Wesselman Woods and nearby park areas with a route that includes Wesselman Park and the Red Cross outpost. Participants move through mixed terrain including concrete, woods, and fenced areas. Zombies on course will try to tag runners on the back of their shirts with fake blood; participants are advised to wear clothing they are okay with getting messy.
The event is organized by Martial Hearts, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance for youth to participate in martial arts. Partial proceeds support Wesselman Woods and Martial Hearts. A race shirt is available to runners who register by Oct 3. Post-race snacks and water are provided and participants have access to a Wesselman Woods post-race Halloween party.
There is a volunteer option to participate as a zombie. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, bring their own zombie attire, and may register as groups to represent a business. A blood splatter wall will be on site and face painting may be arranged through the race director.
Registration for the run lists a fee of $20. Parents must accompany children during the run or walk. The organizer notes terrain and messy effects in the course disclaimer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
