Evansville Zombie 5K Run/Walk
The Evansville Zombie 5K is a themed survival run and walk held at Wesselman Woods. The course runs between Wesselman Woods and the local Red Cross outpost and returns to Wesselman Woods, covering a 5K distance. The route includes paved surfaces, wooded trails, and fenced areas.
Volunteers portray zombies who attempt to tag participants with fake blood during the event. Participants are advised to wear clothing they are okay with getting messy. Parents must accompany any child taking part in the run or walk. Post-race provisions mentioned include snacks, water, and access to a Wesselman Woods post-race Halloween party.
A race shirt is offered to participants who register by an early registration deadline. The listed registration fee for the run is $20 and volunteer zombie registration is free. Partial proceeds are directed to Wesselman Woods and to Martial Hearts, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance for youth martial arts tuition, seminar attendance, and free self-defense training for women.
Volunteer zombies must be at least 16 years old, bring their own zombie attire, and may register as groups to represent a business.
