Essex Challenge Series #4 - Epping to Tower of London
This is a guided long-distance hike covering approximately 34 km, running from Epping Station through Epping Forest and into central London with a finish at the Tower of London. The route is linear and crosses varied terrain, moving from quiet countryside paths to urban streets as it approaches the city centre.
The event is described as a challenge level hike with a steady group pace of 5 km/h. It is intended for hikers who have experience with longer distances and who are comfortable managing sustained time on their feet. The route includes extended periods of walking on mixed surfaces and requires self-management of pace, rest and supplies.
Logistics note: the route is linear so participants must arrange return travel from London. The start location is Epping Station, Station Approach, Epping CM16 4HW, UK, and the finish is at the Tower of London. Spaces are limited to keep group size manageable.
What is provided on the day includes a guided hike led by the organiser, full support from the event team, a full kit list provided after booking, and access to an event community group. Recommended personal equipment includes a day backpack, 2–3 litres of water, a packed lunch and snacks, suitable footwear such as walking boots for uneven sections, and weather-appropriate layers.
