Esplanade 5K Run & Walk : Charles River Esplanade
The Esplanade Association organizes the Esplanade 5K Run and the Esplanade 5K Walk on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Fiedler Field on the Charles River Esplanade. The event site is a different location in the park from previous years; it is next to the Night Shift Beer Garden across the lagoon from the Hatch Memorial Shell. A vendor fair and fall-themed activities, including food, music, and vendor samples, run alongside the event.
There are two distinct options for participants. The 5K Run is a timed race with chipped bibs, official results, and awards for top finishers across multiple age and gender categories. The 5K Walk is untimed; walkers receive a bib that is not chipped and may use strollers and bring leashed dogs. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, owners must clean up after their animals, and strollers and dogs are permitted only in the Walk. Slower participants are asked to start toward the back of the Run.
Registration prices listed include $35 for Run registration and $30 for Walk registration for pre-event entries, with a higher day-of rate if available. All registrants receive a virtual prize bag, a pre-event information packet, and a recycled 18 ounce commemorative cup. Early bib pickup is offered at two specified locations in Boston and day-of pickup is available at the registration tent.
