EREF 5K Run/Walk
The EREF 5K Run/Walk is an annual community event held at Hewlett Point Beach in East Rockaway, New York. Organized to support the East Rockaway Education Foundation, the event takes place rain or shine. Participants can choose between an in-person race or a virtual option that allows for completion at any location between April 18 and April 26.
The event offers the following participation categories:
- 5K Run/Walk (standard registration)
- 18 & Under (discounted youth registration)
- Virtual 5K (distributed participation)
Amenities for participants include post-race refreshments and a commemorative t-shirt for the first 100 people who register. Those who sign up at least three weeks before the race date receive a personalized bib number with their name printed on it. On-site bib pickup is available starting one hour before the race begins for in-person runners.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall. Additionally, the event recognizes the top three male and female participants in various age groups, ranging from 14 and under to 60 and over. Results are provided live online, and participants have access to finish line photos and video. For those interested in a social experience, registration includes an optional feature to form or join teams with friends and family members.
