Event Overview

The Sri Chinmoy Thanksgiving Day 5K & 10K is a running event held on Thanksgiving morning in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York. This is described as the sixteenth annual edition.

Race Details

The event offers a 5K and a 10K distance. The course is a scenic, mostly flat and fast USATF-certified 5K loop starting near Meadow Lake. The route passes landmarks such as the World's Fair Unisphere, Fountain of the Planets, Queens Zoo, New York State Pavilion, and the Queens Museum of Art. The 5K is one loop and the 10K is two loops of the same course. The course closes at 10:30 AM. Strollers and any wheeled locomotion are not allowed.

A separate Kids Race is held, which is a 400-meter or less run for children under 13 years old.

Amenities and Perks

Participants receive a pair of Sri Chinmoy Races running gloves in sizes Unisex Small, Medium, or Large. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal. Free bag check, aid stations every mile, and free finisher photos are provided. There is a post-race pancake breakfast served to registered runners with a bib. Free parking is available at the Meadow Lake Boat Rental Parking lot, a 7-minute walk from the event start.

Registration and Logistics

Registration is online only, with no race-day registration. Entry fees include processing fees. Packet pickup is available on-site from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. An optional packet shipping service is available for US addresses. Chip timing is used, and participants are instructed to wear their bib visibly on their stomach.

Awards

Awards are given in men's and women's categories for both the 5K and 10K races. Categories are based on chip times and include age groups: Under 50 (top 7), 50-59 (top 3), 60-69 (top 2), and 70 & over (first place). Awards ceremonies are held separately for each distance.

Additional Information
