About the race
The Sri Chinmoy Thanksgiving Day 5K & 10K takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, New York. This event features a mostly flat and fast course through a historic park setting. The following distances are available for participants:
- 5 km (1 loop)
- 10 km (2 loops)
- 400 m or less (Kids Race)
The USATF-certified course starts at the north end of Meadow Lake. Runners pass several landmarks, including the World's Fair Unisphere, the Queens Zoo, the New York State Pavilion, and the Queens Museum of Art. The loop is accurately measured and designed for speed.
Participants receive several amenities, including a bag check service, aid stations located at every mile, and a pair of running gloves as a race giveaway. Finisher medals are awarded to all who complete the course. The event utilizes chip timing to provide accurate results based on the time each runner crosses the start and finish lines. To facilitate the timing process, bibs must be pinned visibly on the torso.
Following the main races, a pancake breakfast is served to all registered runners. The breakfast includes pancakes with various toppings like maple syrup and whipped cream. Free parking is available for participants at the Meadow Lake Boat Rental Parking lot, which is a short walk from the race area.
