About the race
The Ennis Bluebonnet Run is an annual athletic event held in Ennis, Texas, during the Ennis Bluebonnet Festival. The event takes place during the region's peak bluebonnet season and features courses that traverse various natural landscapes, including Kachina Prairie and Lake Clark Park. The mission of the run is to fund scholarships, mentorship programs, and career pathways for students in Ellis County.
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 10 km Competitive Run
- 5 km Competitive Run
- 5 km Fun Run and Walk
- 5 km Kids Run (ages 13 and under)
- Virtual Races (5 km or 10 km)
The courses are hybrid routes consisting of both road and trail sections. The 10 km course includes more than one mile off pavement, two loops through the prairie, and a crossing of the Lake Clark Dam. The 5 km routes include approximately 0.75 miles of off-road terrain, featuring uneven surfaces such as grass, compact dirt, and shoreline sections.
Registered participants receive a custom race shirt, a finisher medal, a cooling sport mesh towel, and a cotton canvas tote bag. For the competitive divisions, chip timing is provided, and awards are issued to the top three male and female finishers in five-year age increments.
