Barr Lake Trail Race
The Barr Lake Trail Race takes place Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Barr Lake State Park in Brighton, Colorado. The event offers multiple distances run on natural surface trails around the lake.
- 50K - 31.6 miles, 100% dirt
- 30K - 18.2 miles, 100% dirt
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, 100% dirt
- 15K - 9.1 miles, 100% dirt
- 5K - 3.3 miles, 100% dirt
Course and logistics
Courses feature low elevation gain and open views of Barr Lake and the Front Range. Reported total elevation gains and time limits by distance include: 50K - 460 feet gain, 9-hour limit; 30K - 380 feet gain, about 8-hour limit; half marathon - 187 feet gain, about 8-hour limit; 15K - 190 feet gain, 7-hour limit; 5K - 40 feet gain, about 6-hour limit. Maximum elevation is listed near 5,106 feet.
Aid stations are provided on the longer distances (three total for several courses). Pacers are not permitted; crews may support runners at the finish line. Parking is at the Barr Lake State Park visitor center parking lot next to the staging area, and state park fees are included in race registration. A designated area is available for personal drop bags at the start/finish. The event operates a cupless policy with reusable cups available for purchase or participants may bring their own.
