Empower the Exceptional 5k & Fun Run
Empower the Exceptional is a themed community running event held at Hyde Lake Pavilion, Great View Drive North, Memphis, TN on September 19, 2026. The event is the ninth annual Superhero 5k and Fun Run and raises funds for Exceptional Connections International, a nonprofit that supports people with disabilities in under-resourced communities.
The program includes both a timed 5k with chip finish and an untimed 1 mile fun run. Both courses are described as accessible and wheelchair accessible. Registration includes a t-shirt featuring the event superhero logo, with a t-shirt guarantee for registrations completed by August 30, 2026. A Spirit Runner option is available for t-shirt only.
Prizes and features listed for the event include costume and team prizes, door prizes, Race and Fun Run buddies, and medals for first through third place in each age group with handmade lanyards from Africa. A group discount of 15 percent is applied to groups of five or more. Early packet pick-up is scheduled the day before at Fleet Feet Memphis.
