Empower Backyard Ultra
Empower Backyard Ultra takes place on June 27, 2026 at Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio. The event has a capacity of 150 runners split across three event options and features looped running under Backyard Ultra rules. Entry fees vary by event and registration date, with earlier rates available through May and rising in June. Registration closes on June 22 at 11:59 PM ET. Register by May 30 to guarantee event swag.
Distances and event formats:
- Traditional Backyard using repeating yards on a loop
- 12 Hour Backyard fixed finish requiring 12 loops for 50 miles
- 24 Hour Backyard fixed finish requiring 24 loops for 100 miles
The day loop uses wooded, fairly smooth trails on YMCA property with small elevation changes, occasional roots and rocks, and possible mud depending on weather. The measured loop length is 4.1667 miles. Night running takes place on the Lebanon bike path as an out and back of 2.08 miles each way with no road crossings and generally gradual grades; runners are asked to be respectful of nearby residences.
This Lazarus Lake sanctioned Backyard Ultra runs in hourly loops until a single runner completes a solo loop. Runners must be in the starting corral when the bell sounds to continue. Crews are permitted and limited to three people per runner at a time. Runners provide their own aid; water, coffee and non caffeinated Tailwind will be available. Packet pickup is on YMCA grounds with a Friday evening window and a Saturday morning window. The event setup has moved to the lower lot near the smaller shelter and bathrooms for 2026.
