The Elizabeth 8K is a spring road-race event held in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. The 2026 edition marks the race's 40th anniversary and typically attracts more than 1,300 participants. The course starts and finishes just off Elizabeth Avenue and runs through historic, tree-lined residential and commercial streets.
Distances offered include:
- 8K timed road race
- 1.5 Mile untimed run/walk
- Liz Kids' Fun Run free ~50-yard dash for children six and under
The event combines a timed competitive race with shorter, untimed options for casual participants and families. Proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Community Association and TreesCharlotte, a nonprofit focused on growing and stewarding Charlotte’s urban forest. Local, regional, and national sponsors support the event and its operations.
Registration notes: shirts are guaranteed to those who register by March 25. Registration fees are inclusive of mandatory charges. There are no refunds unless a Refund Protection Program was purchased, and there are no deferrals. Race management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions; registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to acts of God.
