Electric City Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Tradition
The Electric City Gobbler is a Thanksgiving Day sporting event held at the Anderson Mall in Anderson, South Carolina. This holiday tradition offers participants the opportunity to choose from multiple distances on paved surfaces. The event is open to various participants, including strollers and those who wish to wear costumes.
Participants can select from the following event options:
- 5K Run (Chip Timed)
- 1 Mile Tail Feathers on Fire Time Trial (Chip Timed)
- 1 Mile Fun Run (Untimed)
The 5K course is a certified route (SC04033BS) that takes runners through the city streets surrounding the Anderson Mall. The 1 Mile courses for both the Time Trial and the Fun Run are enclosed around the mall area. For the timed events, awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers in overall, masters, and grandmasters categories, alongside multiple age group divisions ranging from 10 and under to over 80.
Registrants receive a chipped bib and a finisher medal at the completion of their event. Additional souvenir race shirts are available as optional add-ons. Proceeds from the event support the Operation Active Kids (OAK) program, which provides scholarships to help children in the local community remain active.
