Eden Marathon and Half-Marathon
The Eden Marathon and Half-Marathon is a multi-terrain running event held in Cornwall. Organized in partnership with the St Austell Running Club, the course takes participants through the region's mining heritage and countryside landscapes. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Eden Project's charitable missions, including the creation of wildflower habitats.
The terrain varies between the two race distances. The marathon course consists of approximately 70% trails, paths, and private roads, and 30% public roads. Due to the varied surfaces, trail shoes are recommended. The half-marathon route is composed of 60% public roads and 40% trails and paths. Both routes include hilly sections.
Available distances include:
- Marathon (minimum age 18)
- Half-Marathon (minimum age 17)
Participants receive chip timing and a themed finisher medal. For sustainability reasons, the event uses recyclable cups instead of plastic bottles at water stations, which are located approximately every three miles. Isotonic drinks are provided at specific intervals. The event includes a baggage storage area, though no shower facilities are available on-site. To comply with safety regulations, the use of headphones is prohibited.
Registered runners and their accompanying supporters receive free entry to the Eden Project on the day of the race. Post-race amenities for runners include a pasty and a beer. Cash prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers, with additional prizes for age category winners and club teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
