Echo Triathlon
Echo Triathlon is a multisport event at Echo State Park Dry Hollow Campground in Coalville, Utah (GPS 40.939050, -111.397733; 777 Echo Dam Rd). The event offers multiple race formats including triathlon, duathlon, aquabike and a SUP variant, with Sprint, Olympic (Intermediate) and Long distance options. Packet pickup is provided on days prior to race day; there is no packet pickup on race morning.
Distances offered include:
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 12.5 mi bike, 3.1 mi run
- Intermediate Olympic: 1500 m swim, 25 mi bike, 6.2 mi run
- Long: 1.2 mi swim, 52 mi bike, 12.4 mi run
The swim course is a clockwise triangular route with one or two laps depending on distance. Expected water temperature in early July is 65–74°F. Swim cap colors are assigned by distance: red for Sprint, green for Olympic, and pink for Long. The run courses are out and back on a packed dirt rail trail; aid stations are located at about one mile intervals. Sprint and Intermediate bike courses are out and back; the Long bike course continues beyond the turnaround and includes extended climbs and two aid stations.
Parking for athletes and most spectators is at North Summit High School; athletes should plan to ride about two miles to the venue. Spectators use shuttle buses and pay a cash park entrance fee. A limited number of VIP parking passes and shared camping spots are available on site. Only athletes are allowed in the transition area.
