Race Overview
The East Canyon Marathon is a multi-distance running event held in UT. The event offers several different course lengths to accommodate different physical requirements and goals:
- Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
The Full Marathon course begins at Big Mountain Pass at the top of Emigration Canyon, overlooking Salt Lake City. The route trends east, passing through areas populated by pine and aspen trees. A significant portion of the course runs alongside the East Canyon Reservoir.
The Half Marathon begins approximately three-quarters of the way around the East Canyon Reservoir, where it joins the path of the full marathon. Participants then travel through Red Rock Canyon, a section characterized by various rock formations and natural landscapes. Near the 20-mile mark of the full marathon route, the environment transitions into farmland featuring grain fields and barns.
The 10K and 5K events are designed as out-and-back courses. All race distances conclude at the same location at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual race option is also available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
