Echo 136 : Whitewater, WI
Echo 136 is a 136 mile trail event held in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The route follows the Ice Age State Trail north and includes wide groomed trails, singletrack sections, bike paths and road connectors. Participants are given 55 hours to complete the course.
Support along the route includes nine fully stocked aid stations with covered tents, chairs and cots. Stations are supplied with water, soda, ice, an electrolyte drink and a range of foods including candies, salty snacks and warm and cold options. Organizers will note common dietary preferences and can store food for athletes who identify as celiac, though gluten cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. The event operates cupless; single serve disposable cups are not provided and refillable vessels will be used.
Course information lists start and finish locations and mile markers, and the organizer notes the following approximate totals for the route: total elevation gain 11,148 ft and total loss 10,961 ft. Measured distances and elevation may vary between devices and mapping systems. Event rules state that no alcohol will be provided, no race day sign up is available, and noisy noisemakers such as cowbells are not allowed. Crew misconduct can lead to disqualification.
