Echo 136

Course and Terrain

The Echo 136 is a 136-mile ultramarathon that uses the Ice Age State Trail. The course travels north from the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest near Whitewater, Wisconsin. The terrain includes wide groomed trails, single-track trails, bike paths, and road connectors. The event organizers provide a GPX file for the course, with an approximate total elevation gain of 11,148 feet and loss of 10,961 feet. They note that these elevation figures are an approximation and may vary by measuring device.

Aid Stations and Support

There are nine fully stocked aid stations planned along the course. Each station is intended to have covered tents, chairs, and cots. They will be stocked with water, soda, ice, an electrolyte drink, and a variety of foods including candies, salty snacks, and warm meals. A specific menu for main entrees will be published later. The organizers state they will be cognizant of common dietary preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free, but cannot guarantee the avoidance of cross-contamination for those with celiac disease. The event is cupless; no disposable cups will be provided, but runners' own vessels will be refilled.

Rules and Logistics

The event has a time limit of 55 hours. Registration closes prior to race day, with no race day sign-ups available. The organizers list several rules: no alcohol will be provided by the event, no cowbells or incessant noise makers are allowed, and crews must abide by all rules and laws.
