Echo 136 : Whitewater, WI (September 25, 2026)
Echo 136 is a 136 mile trail event on the Ice Age State Trail that begins in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest and proceeds north. Runners have a 55 hour cutoff to complete the course.
The course includes a variety of surfaces: wide groomed trails, singletrack, bike paths, and road connectors. Organizers list nine staffed aid stations placed along the route with covered tents, chairs, cots, water, soda, an electrolyte drink, and typical snack and meal options. Dietary preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free will be considered; runners with celiac disease can arrange separate food storage at selected aid stations. The event operates cupless and will refill personal vessels rather than provide single serve disposable cups.
Distance and marker information is provided from the Ice Age Trail mapping system and may be updated if trail management or entrant numbers require changes. The organizer notes variation between measurement systems; the provided total elevation gain and loss are approximate: gain 11,148 ft and loss 10,961 ft.
Other event policies include no alcohol provided by the organizer, no race day registration, and no cowbells or continuous noise makers. Vocal encouragement is encouraged. A more detailed runners manual will be posted on the organizer website. Registration closes Tue, Sep 22 at 10:00 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
