Discover Whitewater Series
The Discover Whitewater Series takes place in Whitewater, Wisconsin, an area defined by the lakes, prairies, and hills of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Established in 2013 by the Greater Whitewater Committee, Inc., this annual event supports local charities and community building efforts.
Participants can choose from several event distances and activities:
- Half Marathon: A course on rolling roads north of the city.
- 5k: A route south of the university campus including a bike path and bridge.
- Fit Kid Shuffle: A short distance event designed for children.
- Kid's Korral: A supervised area or activity for children during the event.
The Half Marathon follows a historic route originally used in the 1980s, providing views of the local countryside. The 5k is open to individual runners and teams, with specific award categories for business and community organizations. Both the Half Marathon and 5k conclude with a finish on the field at Perkins Football Stadium.
All finishers in the main running events receive a medal. Additional awards are provided for the top three finishers in various age groups and the top three overall male and female participants. Cash prizes are specifically awarded to the top three overall finishers in the Half Marathon. The event is designated as a certified green race, meaning course maps are provided digitally rather than in print. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
