The 5k route heads south of the university campus and includes a section on the local bike path with a bridge crossing over Whitewater Creek. Both the half marathon and the 5k conclude with a finish inside Perkins Football Stadium.
Available race distances and categories include:
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon Relay)
- 13.1 miles (Wheelchair Division)
- 3.1 miles (5k)

- Fit Kid Shuffle (Children under 10)
The event features a dedicated Kid's Korral, where children aged 1 to 10 can participate in supervised games, arts, and crafts while their guardians participate in the races. The Fit Kid Shuffle is held on the university track with age-specific categories for children between 4 and 10 years old.
The Discover Whitewater Series is a certified green race. Participants who register by September 1st are guaranteed an event shirt for on-site pickup. All finishers of the half marathon and 5k receive a medal, with additional awards for the top three finishers in each age group.
