Eastern States 20 Miler and Half Marathon
The Eastern States is a road race event held Sunday, March 22, 2026, offering two distances along the New Hampshire and Maine Seacoast. The courses run largely along Route 1A with ocean views and finish at Hampton Beach State Park.
- 20 Miler: From Kittery, ME to Hampton Beach, NH along the Seacoast.
- Half Marathon: From Rye, NH to Hampton Beach, NH along the Seacoast.
Organizers present the event as a spring training option for marathoners. Mile markers count down toward the finish; the 20 Miler markers run from 19 to 1 and correspond with the last 13 miles of the Half Marathon.
Aid stations are located approximately every 2.5 to 3 miles. There are seven aid stations on the 20 Miler and five on the Half Marathon. All aid stations provide water, Gatorade, and port-o-johns. GU Energy nutrition is available at mile 13.1 and 16.5 on the 20 Miler and at mile 6.1 and 9.5 on the Half Marathon. Trash receptacles are placed at aid stations and mile markers.
Participant parking is at Hampton Beach State Park with shuttle buses to both start locations. There is no dedicated start-line parking; runner drop-off is permitted. Gear check is available at both start lines with pickup at the finish.
Additional details: time limits for the courses are 4.5 hours for the 20 Miler and 3.5 hours for the Half Marathon. T shirts are limited to the first 1,400 registrants. Medals are handed out at the finish. Age group awards are given to the top three male and female finishers by net time in each five year age group, and overall winners are recognized by gun time.
