Eagle River Triathlon
The Eagle River Triathlon takes place in Chugiak, Alaska, at Chugiak High School and nearby roads and trails on June 27 to 28, 2026. The event includes multiple race formats. The Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons are designated as the state championship events. Other options include a sprint duathlon, relay teams, and separate kids races with two course lengths.
Distances and formats include:
- Olympic triathlon: split lane swim 1500 meters, bike 40K (24.8 miles), run 10K (6.2 miles)
- Sprint triathlon: split lane swim 500 yards, bike 20K (12.4 miles), run 5K (3.1 miles)
- Sprint duathlon: 1 mile trail run, bike 20K (12.4 miles), run 5K (3.1 miles)
- Kids long course: 300 yard swim, 2 mile bike, ~1.2 mile run
- Kids short course: 50 yard swim, 1 mile bike, ~0.6 mile run
Relay teams cover the same distances as the individual Olympic and Sprint events. Bib pickup is scheduled at local partners and at the high school before race day. A.B.A.T.E. of Anchorage provides volunteer and motorcycle support on the bike course, and the event makes a cash donation to A.B.A.T.E. for its toy drive.
