Winter Wilderness Races in Alaska
The Susitna 100 and Little Su 50K are human-powered winter races taking place in Big Lake, Alaska. These events are held annually in February, featuring routes across the remote frozen landscape. Participants navigate marked trails that provide views of the Alaskan wilderness under varied winter conditions.
The event utilizes traditional lands of the Dena’ina and Ahtna Dene people, as well as areas managed by the Mental Health Trust Authority. The races are organized by Alaska Winter Wilderness Races and involve strictly human-powered movement through the snow-covered environment.
The following distances are available for participants:
- 100 miles (Susitna 100)
- 50 kilometers (Little Su 50K)
Due to the nature of the remote environment, the event includes specific gear requirements and mandatory gear checks for all participants. The course traverses frozen terrain and utilizes a system of marked wilderness trails. A post-race gathering is organized for participants following the completion of the events.
