EAF Public Safety 5K Run/Walk
The EAF Public Safety 5K Run/Walk is an evening athletic event held in Punta Gorda, Florida. Presented by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Employee Assistance Fund and hosted by Babcock Ranch, the event utilizes a scenic course that begins and ends at Founder's Square. Participants follow a path consisting of paved roads and sidewalks around the Babcock Ranch community.
The event offers two main categories for participants:
- 3.1 Miles Timed Run/Walk
- 3.1 Miles Untimed Walk
As this is scheduled as a night race, participants are advised to bring a flashlight for visibility. The course features a water station at the halfway mark and another at the finish line. Public restrooms are located near the start line. The layout of the course is designed to be spectator friendly.
Participants are provided with a finisher medal upon completion. Individual awards are presented to the first-place male and female finishers in the Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand Masters categories. Additionally, age group awards are available for the top three finishers in various brackets ranging from age 9 and under to 75 and older.
The event permits strollers and leashed dogs, though these participants are required to start at the back of the race group. Dogs may be registered for an additional fee to receive a specific event bandana. On-site registration is available via credit card or digital payment, as cash is not accepted.
