EAF Public Safety 5K Run/Walk
The EAF Public Safety 5K Run/Walk is an athletic event held at Babcock Ranch in Punta Gorda, Florida. Presented by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Employee Assistance Fund, the event offers 5K distance options for both runners and walkers. The course consists of a scenic 3.1 mile loop on paved roads and sidewalks, starting and finishing at Founder's Square. Participants follow a route designed to be spectator-friendly.
The available event formats include:
- 3.1 Miles Timed Run/Walk
- 3.1 Miles Untimed Walk
Water stations are positioned at the halfway mark and at the finish line, with bathroom facilities available near the starting area. All participants receive a finisher medal after crossing the finish line. For those participating in the timed category, awards are provided for overall winners in Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand Masters divisions. Additionally, age group awards are presented to the top three finishers in various categories ranging from ages 9 and under to 75 and over.
The event allows dogs for an additional fee, provided they remain on a leash and start at the back of the pack. Strollers are also permitted and must follow the same starting protocol. Registration follows a specific timeline, with a cutoff date for guaranteed event shirts. For those registering on the day of the race, payments are restricted to credit cards or mobile payment options as cash is not accepted.
