Dyfi Aquathlon
The Dyfi Aquathlon combines a long open-water swim with a trail run back to Aberdyfi along the Wales Coast Path. The event features a 13 km swim followed by a 13 km trail run, making a 26 km total aquathlon route. The swim includes a distinct final section of about 3 km that the organiser describes as the crux of the route.
Participants must be able to sustain a minimum open-water swim speed of 3 km/h for at least 2 hours 30 minutes. The organiser provides a drop-bag service that moves athletes' bags to the end of the swim and returns swim kit to the finish. There is no cut-off time on the run.
Live GPS tracking is used so friends and family can follow athletes and receive live results. Registration takes place at Dovey Yacht Club. Entry fees are published for different booking windows and categories, including early bird, standard, and relay rates.
Additional related routes and events have been run alongside the Dyfi Aquathlon, including an 8 km Tafol Tumble, a 4 km Beat the Tide swim, and a 1.5 km Classic. The organiser also offers guided swims on some routes. Sea temperature information and local accommodation options are listed for visiting athletes and their supporters.
