Duddon Valley Short
The Short Duddon is a category A fell race held in the Duddon Valley, Lake District, England. It is a roughly 10 mile route with about 3000 feet of climb that ascends Dow and Caw. The event takes place on 30 May 2026 and uses Newfield Inn, Seathwaite, as the venue.
The race requires navigational ability and appropriate mountain kit. Competitors must be proficient with map and compass in poor visibility. In addition to a map covering the race area, a compass and a whistle, full body cover must be worn or carried throughout the event. Competitors are advised to carry food and water.
Entry is by pre entry only; there is no entry on the day. A minimum age of 18 applies. Pre entry fees are listed as nine pounds for members and ten pounds for non members.
The terrain is mainly single track in places and can be wet or boggy on sections affected by logging. The route is described as difficult in poor visibility and there is very little water on the course after the Three Shires Stone. These conditions make appropriate skills and equipment essential for safe navigation and travel on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
