THE LAP is a fully way-marked trail ultra that circumnavigates Lake Windermere. The event distance is 47 mile / 75K and participants have 24 hours to complete the route. The clockwise edition is scheduled for 9-10 May 2026 and a further edition is scheduled for 12-13 September 2026. The May clockwise event is currently listed as full. Minimum age for entry is 16. The stated entry fee is £135.

Course and facilities

The event starts from Low Cunsey Farm, Cunsey, Ambleside, Cumbria (LA22 0LU). The route is predominantly on tracks, trail and single track with some steeper fell paths and occasional short sections of quiet country road. The organisers supply extensive route marking with 2,500 arrows and provide a GPS tracker, route map and GPX files. Support includes five fully stocked feed stations, a halfway aid station with bag drop, a finishers meal and a locally sourced finishers medal. There is a prize associated with beating the Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery lap record of £250, increasing by £250 per year if the record remains unbroken.
