The Lap - Windermere Ultra Clockwise
The Lap is a fully signposted ultra trail that circumnavigates Lake Windermere over a distance of 47 miles / 75 km. The event is open to runners and walkers and includes a waterproof foldable map, GPX file and live GPS tracking for competitors and followers. Entry includes food at feed stations, a bespoke wooden finisher medal and a finishers meal.
Logistics are centred at Race HQ, Low Cunsey Farm, Cunsey, Ambleside, Cumbria LA22 0LU. Parking is provided on grass beside HQ; parking is currently free but there is no camping in the car park and motorhomes are not permitted. Registration is in person on the Friday evening only and requires photo ID. Minimum age is 16 years on race day.
Competitors must carry the full mandatory kit at all times; random checks are carried out and failure to comply can result in an instant DNF. A GPS tracker is issued and must remain external to the pack; trackers are removed by officials at the finish and must be returned promptly or a replacement charge will be applied. Timing and live tracking are provided by OpenTracking.
There are six staffed food and drink stations including a halfway aid station at Troutbeck with a shoe-bag service and hot food options. Cutoffs apply from Troutbeck and other aid stations, and competitors who retire must report to a marshal, return their tracker and make their own way back to HQ. Pacers and outside assistance are not permitted. Prizes include bespoke wooden finisher medals for all finishers and awards for top placings in gender categories.
