Duchy an Dinas 5
Duchy an Dinas 5 is a five-mile mixed terrain event held at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery in Lostwithiel. It is the third running of the event and is now part of the Cornwall MTRS.
The route is approximately 90% trail and includes over 1000 ft of elevation gain. The course starts and finishes at the nursery and follows a loop that descends into the valley, passes through the valley floor, then climbs to the English Heritage site Restormel Castle where participants complete a loop around the castle and take in panoramic views.
From the castle the route drops into Restormel woods, loops toward the town of Lostwithiel, crosses the valley and passes over the River Fowey before returning to the nursery. The finish includes a loop through private woods used only for this event and concludes at the Woodland Terrace Tepee.
The event is cupless and there is no bag drop. Parking at the venue is limited. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers, with additional age-category prizes and spot prizes. All finishers receive a medal. The minimum age is 18 years and a two hour cut off is applied. A percentage of entry fees will be donated to Mind Cornwall. Current entry status shows the event full with a waiting list.
