Dragon Trails Summer Edition
Dragon Trails Summer Edition is an off-road running event held at Pearsall Park in San Antonio, Texas. The event utilizes the local trail network, featuring a terrain characterized by numerous hills and summer heat. Participants can choose between three distinct distances:
- 25 km (Great Dragon): A two-loop course covering the front hills and back trails.
- 10 km (Ultimate Dragon): A single loop that follows much of the 25 km route, turning around near the seventh water station.
- 5 km (San Antonio's Toughest 5K): A route featuring approximately 100 feet of climbing per kilometer.
The course for the longest distance includes water stations located at every mile, providing water and electrolyte drinks. The event is officially timed by IAAP, and age group awards are presented to first-place finishers in categories ranging from 19 and under up to 70 and over, in 10-year increments.
All registered participants receive a specific event race medal or finisher tile and a singlet featuring the race logo. Post-race activities at the park include a taco breakfast, music provided by a DJ, and an announcer. Professional photographers are stationed along the course to document runners as they navigate the terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
