Event Overview
The Alamo Beer Challenge is the first event in the 2026 Alamo Beer Series. This series is designed as a training program to prepare runners for the San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon in winter 2026/2027. Each event increases in distance.
The race takes place at the Tuscany wedding venue on Old Fredericksburg Road in San Antonio, Texas.
Distances
The event offers several race formats:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 10k
- 5k
- 3-Person Relay (covering the half marathon distance, split into three legs)
- 5k Walk Only (no running permitted)
- 0.05k Fun Run
All main running distances (5k, 10k, and 13.1 miles) are also offered as virtual options.
Event Details
The series was developed by trainers to help runners learn race-day procedures. A key feature this year is the new 3-person relay team event for the half marathon distance, designed to add camaraderie. Walkers are accommodated in a dedicated category.
Participants receive a race shirt. Awards are given for first through fourth place in each age group, with overall and masters winners also recognized. The event has affiliations with fundraising organizations.
Specific rules include wearing the race number (which contains the timing chip) on the front and not bending it. Age-based discounts are available: participants aged 16 and under or 70 and over receive a 50% discount automatically. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
