Event Overview
The Dr. Gann’s Diet of Hope Cinco de Mayo event takes place at Cholla High School in Tucson, Arizona. The course leads participants through Starr Pass in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains, featuring mountain scenery and views of the Tucson basin. The event includes a post-race celebration with a live mariachi band, piñatas, and a water balloon toss.

Participants can choose from the following options:
- 10 km run (part of the SAR Grand Prix)
- 10 km walk
- 5 km run or walk
- 1 mile (FitKidz race for ages 12 and under)
- Chair division for both 5 km and 10 km distances
Participant Information
Registered participants receive a technical shirt, a custom finishers' medal, and various refreshments including pastries, breakfast burritos, and energy drinks. Packet pickup is available on the Friday and Saturday preceding the event at designated retail locations in Oro Valley and Tucson, as well as on the morning of the event at the race site.
The event supports Youth on Their Own, a local program assisting youth experiencing homelessness in Pima County. Course maps for the 5 km and 10 km routes are provided by the organizers to show the paths through the Tucson Mountain foothills. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
