Event Overview

The Dr. Ed Morgan/Kiwanis Grand Slam 4 Miler is an annual running and walking event held in Louisville, Kentucky. Celebrating its 23rd year in 2026, the race takes place at Waterfront Park and Louisville Slugger Field. The event is part of the River City Races Run the 502 series, a collection of local races where participants can earn a finisher medal with specific charms for each completed event.

Distances and Course

The primary event is a 4 mile run or walk. The course leads participants through the scenery of Waterfront Park. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available:

  • 4 Mile Run/Walk
  • 4 Mile Virtual Run

The virtual race can be completed at any location, including roads, trails, or treadmills. Participants in the virtual category can submit their results online to download a finisher certificate and view their rankings.

Registration and Amenities

Registrants receive a choice of a cotton blend short sleeve shirt, a wicking tech shirt, or a women's tech tank. All participants who complete the course receive a finisher medal. Following the race, a post-race breakfast is provided for participants, and door prize drawings are held. A family registration option is available for groups of four, which requires the creation of a team under a shared name.

Awards

The overall male and female winners are awarded a Louisville Slugger baseball bat. Souvenir bats are also presented to the second and third place overall finishers, as well as master and grandmaster winners. Age group awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers in categories ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
