Downtown Mile for CASA
The Downtown Mile for CASA is an evening running event held on Charles Street in downtown Fredericksburg. This event is a USATF certified 1 mile course and serves as the ninth race in the Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Series. All participants who finish the race earn points toward this 12-race series managed by the Fredericksburg Area Running Club.
The competition is organized into four distinct waves to accommodate various age groups and participation styles:
- Wave 1: Females ages 15 and up.
- Wave 2: Males ages 15 and up.
- Wave 3: Youth ages 6-14.
- Wave 4: Superhero Run, open to all ages, families, participants with strollers, and walkers.
The event features a post-race atmosphere in the downtown area. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers in the first and second waves, as well as the top master runners aged 40 and over. Age group awards are also available for several categories ranging from ages 15 to over 70. Youth participants in wave three and four receive medals.
Participants who register by September 1, 2026, are guaranteed an event shirt. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at River Rock Outfitters and on the afternoon of the event. While there are no water stations along the short course, water is provided at the finish line. Public parking is available in local garages and street spots. Proceeds from the event benefit Rappahannock Area CASA, a non-profit supporting court-appointed volunteer advocacy for children. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
