Event details
The Brightstar Downtown 5K takes place in Providence, Rhode Island on September 13, 2026. The event weekend includes a Downtown 5K, youth races, and a VIRTUAL Downtown 5K Run/Walk. The race start location is Memorial Boulevard, Providence (10 Memorial Boulevard, Providence, RI 02903). The event uses chip timing and provides T-shirts to entrants. Safety rules state no pets allowed, baby strollers are permitted for walkers only, and walkers will line up at the back of the 5K start.

Registration, packet pickup and parking
Online entry pricing for the Downtown 5K varies by date, with early, mid, and late registration tiers and a higher race-day fee. Youth race fees also follow tiered pricing and a weekend rate. Online entries close on 2026-09-12. Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled at Marathon Sports, Providence Place (1 Providence Place, Level One) on the days before the race and packet pickup is also available on race day at the same location. Parking is available at Providence Place parking lots.
Awards and teams
Individual awards include top three overall for women, men and non-binary, plus age-group winners spanning younger to older age brackets. Overall awards are based on gun time and age-group awards on chip time. Team divisions include Family and Friends and Corporate teams, with scoring by top three times.
