Brightstar Downtown 5K
Brightstar Downtown 5K is the 36th annual Downtown 5K held in Providence, Rhode Island on September 13, 2026. The event takes place in downtown Providence with the start and finish on Memorial Boulevard.
The 5K course travels through historic downtown Providence past landmarks such as the Rhode Island State House and along the Providence River. The event also includes youth races with separate short-distance heats for younger children.
Distances
- 5K course starting and finishing on Memorial Boulevard through downtown Providence.
- 100 yards youth race for ages 1 to 5.
- 1/4 mile youth race for ages 6 to 10.
Packet pickup is available before race day at Marathon Sports, Providence Place, and there is race day packet pickup at the same location. Virtual participants can receive a shirt by pickup or have it mailed after the event and may submit virtual results online; virtual entries count toward series standings.
Online entry fees for the 5K range from $34 to $38 depending on registration date; race day fee is $45. Youth online fees range from $15 to $17; race day fee is $20. Online entries close the day before the race. There are no refunds.
Awards include overall top finishers by gender category, age-group awards based on chip time, top three in youth races, and team awards for Family and Friends and Corporate teams.
