About the race
The Brightstar Downtown 5K takes place in downtown Providence on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The event includes a timed 5K run/walk, youth running races, and a virtual 5K option. The course starts on Memorial Boulevard in Providence, Rhode Island. Chip timing is used and T shirts are provided for all entrants.
Distances:
- 5K run/walk with chip timing
- Youth races: ages 1 to 5, 100 yards
- Youth races: ages 6 to 10, 1/4 mile
Packet pickup will be available at Marathon Sports in Providence Place on race morning at 8:00 a.m. Virtual participants who did not pick up a bib will be mailed T shirts, and virtual results must be completed and submitted by October 1. Entry fees for the 5K are listed in tiered online rates up to a race day fee; youth race fees also follow a tiered schedule with race weekend pricing.
Awards include top three overall finishers for women, men, and non binary runners, plus age group winners across multiple age bands. Overall awards are based on gun time and age group awards are based on chip time. Team awards are offered for Family and Friends and Corporate teams with unlimited entries where the top three times score. Parking is available at the Providence Place parking lots. For safety, no pets are allowed; baby strollers are permitted for walkers only and walkers will line up at the back. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
